Portrait.

The portrait process begins with the portrait photo book personally overseen by the artist. At this stage, the commissioner selects the desired technique - oil or egg tempera on canvas, charcoal on paper, sculpture, and many others  -.   Once the type of portrait has been chosen, the sizing of the subject takes place. The likeness can be carried out in a variety of poses. The appropriate setting is then selected: Family Portrait, Informal Setting, Formal Portrait, Workplace, etc. Great care is invested in the details – at each phase of the work– from the lighting and color of the paintings to the material and finish for the sculptures. Every painting is realized on a canvas made by hand, treated with chalk and natural glue, brushed with colors based in ground pure pigments mixed with organic elements. Eschewing synthetics, Maestro Battini uses instead pure pigments, minerals and semiprecious stones such as lapis lazuli that give the work a look and a substance unique and long lasting. The figures represented in his art are true-life models, photographed and complemented by historical or contemporary costume.
